Recognition by IIA SA offers several benefits:
How To Become a Recognised Internal Audit Service Provider In South Africa
To qualify for recognition, your firm must meet the following declaration criteria:
- Payment of the non-refundable application processing fee.
- Internal Audit Leader must be an IIA SA member in good standing.
- Internal Audit Leader(s) must hold a Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) or Principal Certified Internal Auditor (PCIA) designation.
- Internal Audit team leaders must have a minimum of five (5) years of internal auditing experience, including two (2) years of management experience.
- All internal auditors on any assignment must be IIA SA members in good standing (client verification is available via the IIA SA membership database).
- The firm must be liquid and solvent.
- The firm must have professional indemnity insurance.
- A documented Internal Audit Methodology compliant with relevant legislation and standards is required.
- Declaration of adherence to the IIA SA Code of Ethics.
- Compliance with the IPPF (until 8 January 2025) and Global Internal Audit Standards (effective 9 January 2025).
- Evidence of an effective quality assurance and improvement program (QAIP).
- A commitment to providing IIA SA with any required information during the application review process.
Fees 2025
The following fees apply for the Service Provider Recognition:

| 21+ Internal Audit Leaders: R2,800 per signatory. |
