Occupational Qualifications
The Internal Audit function is acknowledged worldwide as an intrinsic part of good corporate governance in organisations, entities and government departments.
In South Africa, legislation requires the establishment of an internal audit function in every public sector entity. A cornerstone of the South African National Development plan is clean government and zero tolerance for corruption and fraud. Over and above this requirement, organisational efficiency is paramount to the success of our economy. The internal audit profession is critical for achieving this.
The Institute of Internal Auditors South Africa (IIA SA) Occupational Certificates will assist in providing the required number of people able to fulfil the internal audit role thereby helping government departments meet their legislative requirement. It will contribute to the National Economic Development Strategies.
The Institute of Internal Auditors offers four (x4) Occupational Qualifications for members:
OC IA
The IIA SA is the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA) recognised professional body for the Internal Audit profession in South Africa.
OC IAM
The OC IAM qualification prepares professionals to operate as an Internal Audit Manager.
OC IAM QA
An Internal Audit Quality Assurer assesses the Internal Audit Activity for conformance with the International Professional Practices Framework (IPPF).
OC ICT IA
The OC ICT IA qualification prepares professionals to operate as an Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Internal Auditor.
The IIA SA is the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA) recognised professional body for the Internal Audit profession in South Africa. To develop the profession and enhance the credibility of Internal Auditors in the market, IIA SA has developed this qualification and taken on the role as the Assessment Quality Partner.
These IIA SA Occupational Qualifications will acknowledge that a successful candidate has attained the skills, knowledge and competencies equal to those of the highest and most prestigious, globally recognised internal audit certification.
These qualifications are confirmation to the market (the body of employers in all sectors), that the holder has attained globally recognised competencies which are based on the mastery of academic knowledge and its application in practical work situations.
